Can't Blog...Making Tiny Cakes...

My solo show at Haiku in the Short North is fast approaching. It now has an official name: Sweet Tooth! I am creating diorama displays for my miniature polymer clay food in painted wood shadow boxes.
Check out the invite page on Facebook and stay tuned for more pictures of my miniatures & small sculptures.

The next few weeks are going to be insane, and then I am off to Florida for some much-needed vacation time. A week after I get back, it's time for the CTA Craftstravaganza

Let Them Eat Cake!

If you enjoy cake (seriously, who doesn't?!), you should check out my new series of rings in the "Tiny Treats" collection. They are all tiny cakes and pastries set on mini porcelain plates. Some of the cakes have a slice missing, giving us a peek at the type of cake and filling inside!

Right now, these rings are only available at Wholly Craft, so get yourself to Clintonville (N.W. corner of High and Pacemont) and check 'em out!

Gooey Treats for Winter

As the winter weather roared outside yesterday evening, I sat in my toasty apartment making jewelry reflecting the delicious treats that warm our insides. My kitchen is officially overrun with polymer clay. I think I have more clay than food at this point! Haha. Ok, maybe not.

For a scrumptious scent to go with your gooey treats jewelry, try these unique blends by The Midsummer Muse: Camp Treats and Hot Chocolate!

Sweet Tooth

I have been polymer clay crazy lately! This typically happens every now and again, as I take out my enormous clay stash, my tools, and all the other accessories and add-ons that accompany. I figure, Well, while all this stuff is out, I might as well get as much use out of it as possible!

The first photo is of a little blueberry muffin charm I made. It was my first attempt at making a clay muffin, and I think it turned out great! A little hard to photograph, though...maybe I'll be saving this one for Tiny Canary and won't be listing it on my Etsy shop page.
Here are some other things I've been working on:

Dessert Pastries Ring

Apple Core Necklace

New York Pastries Charm Bracelet

Fall Sweet Treats Jewelry Set

Just Desserts Pin

And finally, my favorite: Rainbow Cake Earrings! I made them to sell, but I fell in love with them and just couldn't part with these teeny little cake slices. I think I will make more cake slice earrings: maybe carrot cake and yellow cake w/chocolate frosting. My little experiment for the New York Pastries charm bracelet turned it to a great find!

Check back soon for more new photos!

Time To Make The Donuts!

Mmmm...look at these yummy donuts! Too bad they're FAKE. Sadly, they are not edible; rather, they're part of an art piece I am working on for the Agora art show in October.

They start out as donut-shaped lumps of lightweight air-dry clay which are painted in a variety of cake-related shades.

Then, I "frost" them with a seemingly endless combination of acrylic paints, glosses and glazes. And then comes the fun part: sprinkles and drizzles!

The artwork below is about 85% complete. There will be a lovely surprise at the end. But I'm not giving it away now. You'll just have to come to the art show and see for yourself!

I cannot believe...

...that I actually made all of this in the last 2 days!! I will not be listing very much on my Etsy page until the end of summer. It's just too much to keep up with while doing craft shows and markets.

Sweet Treats

I have to admit, I'm not the best baker/cook/candy maker in the world. But I have grown quite adept at creating teeny little treats out of polymer clay.
This past week, I had my Sculpey out on the kitchen table so whenever I had a moment, I would make a new charm or bead. Here are some of the results:

Frozen Treats Charm Bracelet
Cookie Earring Studs & Watermelon Pin

Dangle Earrings: Breakfast, Pretzels, SnoCones, Watermelon

Baked Goods Charm Bracelet

"C" is for Cookie Bracelet
These are only a few of the collection I have created. Be on the lookout at Wholly Craft as well as on my Sweet Stella Designs Etsy page for more, including: pizza, fast food, cupcakes, ice cream cones, tacos, and lollipops!
