I'm in the Craft: Magazine Blog

Yesterday, Patrice pointed out that my Credit Card Pendant Necklace was mentioned in the Craft: Magazine blog!!! Hooray!

This is so exciting, as that piece now has 570 views (and more people have "hearted" me on Etsy within the last 2 days, too!). Maybe someone will decide they can't live without it...

I have also broken my rule about not listing new items on Etsy. Yes, I am supposed to be writing my thesis, but I really needed to make some new things and list some old ones as well. Plus, I have 3 more books to pick up at the library...so naturally I should hold off on the writing until I have more sources, right? Right.

This Weekend...

...you're going to this event at the North Market:

I won't be a vendor, but you will be able to find some Sweet Stella Designs loot (like the apple core necklaces below) at the Wholly Craft booth! Look for many members of the Columbus Crafty Cotillion selling their handmade goodies. This event should be a blast, and after you're finished with that, head a few blocks north to the Short North Holiday Hop.

More Mixed Media Necklaces

Feast your eyes on some more yarn-wrapped goodness!! Wrapping the beads takes forever, but it's worth it when I see the finished product!

Aqua+Purple and Watermelon Mania!
Below are two designs inspired by the circus and carnivals:
Big Top and Ice Cream Dream
I probably should not talk about this because I don't want to jinx it...but tonight, I applied for Crafty Bastards in DC on September 30th. I am not getting my hopes up because there are only 100 spaces and I am sure a ton of people apply. We were only allowed to submit 3 photos, so I made 3 photo-collages: one with my chunky mixed-media jewelry; one with my vintage stamp collection items; and one with a "Pop Art" theme with polymer clay cuties and my citrus slice pendants.
I will be notified around the middle of July. Right now I can hardly contain myself, but I know in a day or so I will be back to being incredibly busy preparing for my Lynn & Pearl Alley Market adventure!

New Goodies!

I have been spending time (maybe too much time!) making a variety of new jewelry & accessories for my etsy shop. Today, I received 3 packages of beads, cabs, and ephemera that I ordered from ebay and a lovely site called SkyBluePink.
My favorite purchase so far was about 50 vintage cancelled stamps, which I used to make these pendant necklaces.

I will definitely be posting more new creations over the next few weeks. Check back soon for some big news & announcements!

Yarn-Wrapped Fun!

Yarn-wrapped beads are my new exciting jewelry adventure. They are quite simple to make, but you couldn't tell judging from the intricate designs the can create together!

I started wrapping the beads last Friday, when I had some 'down time' between classes. And I couldn't stop. I made 3 necklaces this weekend by stringing the beads on a satin cord and knotting the cord to keep the beads in place.

The first necklace has an orange center bead and shades of blues.
You can purchase this necklace HERE!

To the right is another necklace I made this weekend. It reminds me of spring!

It also matched the fabric of the chair in my craft room/office.

The necklace to the left is not for sale! I love it too much. I've already worn it twice since I've made it and recieved several compliments.

I will probably make a few more of the same style, though. The funky yarns add a little pizazz, and the graduated fade from dark red to light pink works well, in my opinion.
Let me know what you think!
